Attention Customers/ Owners of Roadtrek and Hymer / Carado RVs.
 

As you may have heard, Hymer North America, the manufacturer of Roadtrek and Carado Class B RVs has suspended its operations, and the company is currently under receivership in its home country of Canada. It is very likely that the company will be purchased and resume operations at some point, but it is currently under the control of a court appointed trustee.
 

What does this mean for you, as an existing or potential customer of any of the affected brands? First of all, don't panic.
 

Existing owners of the Roadtrek/ Hymer RVs will still have a valid warranty on their powertrains from the original vehicle manufacturers. Furthermore, existing components such as refrigerators and microwaves are covered by their own manufacturer's warranties (normally for a year from the purchase date). For the upfitter-specific items, there is no warranty on them at this time.
 

It remains to be seen if the eventual purchaser of the company will honor existing warranties going forward. If you purchased an aftermarket extended warranty at the time of purchase, your coverage is still in place.
 

For new purchasers of new RVs currently in our inventory, we will provide an extended service contract at no cost, and existing owners have the option of purchasing extended coverage as well. Please ask our finance managers for more information.

If you get a model that uses a drive train, you will need to be comfortable learning a new set of controls. If you get a model that needs to be towed, you will need to ensure it fits the weight capacity and hitching style of your tow vehicle. You will also need to spend time practicing with your camper being towed since the extra weight will affect how it turns, slows down, and so on.
