Crownline Boats
For those looking to do some day cruising, you can't go wrong with a Crownline E4. They offer the space of their larger pontoon boat cousins but deliver more convenience and better performance. The Crownline E4 splits its length between the bow compartment, main cockpit, and swim deck, with boarding ladder at both the bow and stern. The forward and aft swim decks are covered with soft-touch rubberized mat material, so it'll be comfortable even if you're in barefeet.
The E4's broad bow compartment includes two curvy, full-length lounges, complete with arm rest and plenty of room for additional passengers, picnic supplies, water toys, anything you might need for a day of fun on the lake. There are comfortable swiveling helm and companion seats, which can be turned to face the lounge, and the aft section can be converted into seating that faces the swim deck, or even folded down to create a sun lounge. Really, the E4 has every convenience you could want in a day-cruiser.
To top it off, the Crownline E4 is powered by a MerCruiser 350 MAG twin-prop Bravo III sterndrive. This 300hp engine has been combined with the ventilated fastTab hull for blazing acceleration. It'll top out at about 50 miles per hour with a comfortable cruising speed in the 30-to-35 miles per hour range.
If you're looking for something a little more "fun to drive", your best bet is a Crownline 225 SS. This boat also features the fast Tab hull, for a few extra miles per gallon, and has vented chines to reduce drag, along with fin-like tabs that keep those vents from interfering with the handling. The hull will stick in the turns, is responsive to trim, and airs out at speed, meaning you can feel the vents working as you glide along the water before settling off plane.
The cockpit of the Crownline 225 SS comes equipped with a little extra room, thanks to the L-wrap seating to port, with a backrest at the console. Add to this the provisions made for a 25-quart carryout cooler, a drained built-in cooler below the aft seal cushion, and the pivoting backrest, which will face either forward or aft, and you've got the perfect boat for your next day on the water with family or friends. The 225 SS also comes with a standard six-speaker Jensen Marine audio system, with two speakers at the swim platform and the dash has a designated area for a GPS.
Triton Boats
